About Me
Anita is primarily a watermedia artist. She has also studied oriental brush painting, acrylics, oil and collage. Anita focuses on organic shapes and natural rhythms in her paintings. Anita has studied with nationally-known artists such as Betsy Dillard-Stroud, Gerald Brommer, Ed Hosmer, Judi Betts, Stephen Quiller, and Janet Walsh. I have studied for years with local artist Lassie Corbett. Other local teachers include Carolyn Gawarecki, Carolyn Koslow, and Judy Wengrovitz.
Picasso said that "art is the elimination of the unnecessary". My paintings reflect my need to simplify and abstract a realistic subject. I believe that to be an artist you must love and appreciate many things.
As Milford Zornes so eloquently put it, "All art is abstract, because art is an abstraction of truth. By definition, a painter is seeking truth and the ability to express it through design.
Anita is a member of the Vienna Arts Society and the League of Reston Artists. She shows her work at Health Matters in Herndon, VA.
